I don't know if the coroner wanting to do more examination to figure out the exact causes of Warrior's death has anything to do with it. But just knowing the extremely private nature of the man, it wouldn't surprise me at all if any possible funeral was done very privately and discretely where only family and close friends would know of it.
My grandfather had a very unique view on funerals and death. His will stipulated that his remains were to be cremated and immediately disposed by the mortuary. He wasn't a religious man, so he didn't want any services either.

My mother is pretty much in line with your grandad's view there, but not because she is wholly irreligious. It is more that she thinks it is an empty gesture. We used to live where our driveway (a very long "driveway") exited nest to a cemetery and almost every time we went past she would remark on the silliness and/or waste of all those headstones or flowers on people who could no longer appreciate the attention.
I can only guess what Warrior might have wanted. I believe the younger man he was twenty years ago wanted very much to be remembered and memorialized, but that other things became much more important as he matured. Especially after his children were born.
